Come immerse yourself in the “Stormy Days of 1836” – when San Felipe de Austin holds out hope that the Texas Army can hold the Mexican Army on the frontier, only to see the Colonies fall into confusion as Houston’s forces retreat through the Anglo settlements – As the citizens of San Felipe hear news of their neighbors killed at the Alamo, the remaining families flee for the United States and the San Felipe company takes a stand on the east bank of the Brazos.
The town is burned as a desperate war effort to slow the Mexican advance and the scattered citizens of Austin’s colony wonder what will become of their future.
Come see how San Felipe weathered this tumultuous period with living history demonstrations and guided vignettes throughout the day and an afternoon memorial at 4:30pm to the men and women of the town who gave everything they had – their work, their homes, their very lives – for the Independency of Texas.
This event will be held in the Villa de Austin.
Admission must be paid in the main museum building.
